The National Botanical Garden in Mirpur, Dhaka is one of the largest plant conservation center in Bangladesh spanning approximately 84 hectares (210 acres) area. It was established in 1961 and serves as a vital hub for botanical research, education centre and recreation. The area is managed by the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

It is located adjacent to the Dhaka National Zoo in Mirpur-1 region of the capital and is easily accessible via various modes of transportation. Visitors can reach here by car, taxi or CNG rickshaw from different parts of Dhaka city. Several bus routes are also connected to the area and recently the Dhaka Metro Rail provides nearby stations from where anyone can take rickshaw or taxi and reach to the garden.

The garden has over 56,000 trees, herbs and shrubs, which includes enormous collection of aquatic plants. Rare and exotic species such as the Amazon lily (Victoria amazonica), camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) and rabbit fern (Davallia canariensis) are seen here. The facility is divided into 57 sections featuring a cactus house, orchid house, rose garden, artificial waterfall and six lakes. A modern vegetative propagation arrangement and a tissue culture laboratory have been established for the propagation of rare species.

Beyond its botanical offerings, the garden provides a serene environment ideal for picnics, leisurely walks and nature photography. Bird enthusiasts can enjoy sightings of various birds; especially during winter months when migratory birds visit the area. The garden's proximity to the Dhaka Zoo offers an added attraction for visitors.
